Product Description
Fabric Bakelite is a phenolic rigid laminate reinforced by a woven cloth, for use in mechanical and structural applications.
It offers excellent mechanical and wear resistance. It is suitable for gears and similar applications requiring high impact strength. There are several types of fabric Bakelite. Our stocking F2 and F3. F2 is tougher than F3, however does not allow for as close tolerances when machining.

Superior Electrical InsulationBakelite Fibre Sheets deliver exceptional electrical insulation properties, achieving dielectric strength up to 120 kV/mm. This ensures safety and reliability for applications in switchboards, control panels, and other electrical installations where insulation integrity is paramount.
Optimal Mechanical PerformanceEquipped with high tensile (85 MPa) and compressive strength (350 MPa), these sheets withstand rigorous mechanical stresses. Their hard surface and robust structure make them suitable for demanding environments that require both strength and durability.
Flame and Heat ResistanceWith a self-extinguishing property conforming to relevant standards and the ability to withstand continuous heat exposure up to 140C, Bakelite Fibre Sheets provide enhanced safety in environments where fire and elevated temperature present risks.
Precision Machining CapabilityEngineered for outstanding machinability, Bakelite Fibre Sheets support smooth drilling, cutting, turning, and shaping processes. This means faster, cleaner fabrication for custom projects and industrial uses.
FAQ's of BAKELITE FIBRE SHEET:
Q: How can Bakelite Fibre Sheet be processed for custom applications?
A: Bakelite Fibre Sheets are highly machinable and can be drilled, cut, and turned with standard tools. Their smooth, glossy surface allows for precise fabrication of custom sizes, gaskets, and structural components without compromising strength or insulation properties.
Q: What are the primary benefits of using Bakelite Fibre Sheet in electrical insulation?
A: The sheet offers superior dielectric strength (120 kV/mm), low water absorption, and flame resistance. These features ensure electrical safety, minimize risk of short-circuiting, and guarantee reliable performance in switchboards, control panels, and other devices.
Q: When is Bakelite Fibre Sheet recommended for thermal or fire-prone environments?
A: Bakelite Fibre Sheet is suitable for environments with temperatures up to 140C and where flame resistance is required. Its self-extinguishing nature and compliance with safety standards make it ideal for use in electrical and structural fire-prone areas.
Q: Where can Bakelite Fibre Sheet be used in industrial settings?
A: These sheets find utility in electrical insulation, switchboards, control panels, mechanical gaskets, and diverse structural applications across manufacturing, electrical, and engineering industries due to their mechanical and electrical properties.
Q: What standards does Bakelite Fibre Sheet comply with, and why is this important?
A: It meets IS 2036/1974, IEC, and NEMA L Class standards, which means it has been tested and validated for quality, safety, and performance, making it reliable for critical electrical and mechanical applications.
Q: How does the water absorption property impact the sheet's usage in humid environments?
A: With water absorption below 1.5% after 24 hours, Bakelite Fibre Sheet remains stable and maintains insulation properties even in humid or damp settings, reducing the risk of swelling or electrical failure.
